The 2021 Le Mans 24 Hours marks the dawn of a new era for the world's oldest and most famous endurance race, as the Hypercar class replaces LMP1 as the top of the endurance racing pyramid.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans was created by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, a motoring organisation founded in 1906. The first race was held on 26-27 May 1923 on a circuit near Le Mans. The competition was designed to boost and promote technical innovation and to encourage the development of the automotive industry.

The car made its racing debut at the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans. Three cars were entered for the race by Nissan Motorsports, numbered 21, 22 and 23. The cars qualified in the last three places of the LMP1 class with times over 20 seconds slower than the pole position time set by the No. 18 Porsche 919 Hybrid. The No. 21 car was even out-qualified

The #38 car kept themselves on top for most of the 24 hours. The first stints from Antonio Felix da Costa, William Stevens and Roberto Gonzalez set the benchmark for all the other LMP2 cars.
